England Euro Provisional Squad – Who Is In and Who Is Out?

Gareth Southgate is yet to announce his 26-man squad for the 2024 Euros. So there is still a lot of time to speculate who will stay and who will miss out from the original England Euro provisional squad.

However, before the final England Euro squad announcement there is still time to comment on the potential cuts that might happen. We have a few names in mind, so let’s see whether you agree with us or not.

Jordan Pickford is Soutghate’s number-one guy. He forever has been and he will most certainly continue to occupy that role. Ramsdale lacks playing time, but there is definitely a place, especially for Dean Henderson, who has shown his quality both at Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace. Unfortunately, this means that Burnley’s James Trafford will need to miss out.

When it comes to the defence, Luke Shaw is one of the most questionable names due to his fitness levels. He has had injury problems during the entire season and seeing him in the team could be quite a surprise. But with a lack of options in the wing, Southgate might decide to bring him along either way.

That said, when the England Euro squad numbers are finally given out, there is a possibility that uncapped Liverpool’s Jarell Quansah and Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa get the boot.

Defenders England Squad

England has the highest concentration of quality players in the midfield out of all Euro 2024 teams. But somebody has got to miss out. In fact, we see three names being dropped out.

Liverpool’s Curtis Jones and Brighton’s Adam Wharton were surprise entries to start with. Mainoo has proven himself both for Man Utd and the country, so there is a definite spot for him.

That can’t be said for Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze. While having a stellar season, Eze could miss out in favour of the more experienced James Maddison and Conor Gallagher.

The tip of the spear is England’s attack. Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka’s names will most certainly be called out in the UEFA Euro England squad. Ollie Watkins and Jarrod Bowen have had the season of their lifetime. This leaves either Ivan Toney or Anthony Gordon as potential cuts.

Our guess is that Ivna Toney will fail to book a ticket for the Euros. England already has Kane and Watkins in this position. Gordon has an entirely different tool set and he could use the experience of participating at a major tournament like the Euro 2024.
