Serie A: AC Milan vs Atalanta Match Review
Atalanta sees their last hopes of challenging the Serie A title falter after an away 1-1 draw against AC Milan. Atalanta is the surprise team of the season once again as they are battling Inter for the second spot in Serie A and another direct appearance in the Champions League.
Milan was the better side throughout the whole match and they started off well with a Hakan Calhanoglu goal in the 14th. But a VAR-assisted decision helped Atalanta to a penalty in the 26th minute of the game. But the Ukrainian winger, Ruslan Malinovsky saw his effort from the penalty spot easily swatted away by Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.
However, Atalanta did manage to grab an equalizer in the 34th minute of the game. Duvan Zapata bagged his 18th goal of the season after muscling through Milan’s defense.
The second half saw two more chances for Milan. However, Bonaventura’s effort was denied by the post, while a late foul committed on Ibrahimovic was waved off by the ref denying them a late penalty.
Atalanta drops to third place after Inter and is now trailing one point behind them. Milan is now one point ahead of Napoli for the battle for the Europa League qualification spot.
