West Ham 0-4 ChelseaChelsea bounced back from their Carling Cup exit with a brilliant attacking display in their 4-0 win over West Ham on Saturday.
Frank Lampard put his side in the lead from the penalty spot in the 17th minute while Joe Cole and Michael Ballack hit the back of the net in space of 2 minutes as Chelsea raced to a 3-0 lead in 22 minutes. Lampard was then sent off for pushing Luis Boa Morte in the 34th minute but Chelsea continued to dominate and Ashley Cole scored the fourth midway through the second half.
After dominating the opening minutes of the match Chelsea took a deserved lead in the 17th minute when Anton Ferdinand fouled Kalou in the penalty area and Lampard coolly slotted home from the spot. The Blues doubled the lead three minutes later as Joe Cole cut in to smash the ball home from outside the area.
The game was effectively over in the 22nd minute when Ballack latched on to Lampard's cross before smashing the ball and smashing a low shot past Robert Green. Chelsea received a set back in the 34th minute when Lampard was sent off for pushing Boa Morte in the face after being caught in a kick by the West Ham player.
However West Ham failed to take advantage of their numerical superiority as Chelsea continued to dominate the proceedings. Ashley Cole completed the rout in the 64th minute when he latched on to a parried shot by Joe Cole to side foot the ball from close range.
