West Ham 2-0 Hull CityHull City slumped to their sixth straight Premier League defeat as they were comfortably beaten 2-0 by West Ham United on Wednesday. With his side searching for a first point in six matches, manager Phil Brown fielded a defensive line up as West Ham dominated the possession early in the game. The hosts went close to taking an early lead when David Di Michele saw his shot smash against the post. West Ham won a penalty in the 21st minute when Carlton Cole was fouled inside the area by Ricketts but keeper Matt Duke pulled off a brilliant save to deny Mark Noble from the spot. However it was not long before the hosts took the lead with Di Michele latching on to the loose ball after Duke had blocked Cole's initial effort and smashed it into the net to put his side in the lead. West Ham came close to doubling the lead just before half time when Jack Collison hit the woodwork. The hosts deservedly doubled the lead six minutes into the second half when Di Michele hit the post again from Noble's free kick and the ball rebounded straight to Cole who was left with a simple finish from close range. Jimmy Bullard came off the bench to make his debut for Hull and though he went close to reducing the deficit with a long range effort, Hull were unable to breach the West Ham defense and had to return home empty handed yet again.
