West Ham 1-3 EvertonThree goals in final eight minutes propelled Everton to their third straight league victory as they secured a 3-1 win over West Ham on Saturday.
The Hammers looked on course for their first win in six matches after taking the lead in the 63rd minute through Jack Collison but Joleon Lescott equalized for Everton in the 82nd minute before two goals in two minutes from Louis Saha secured all three points for the visitors.
West Ham went into the match without a win in their last five matches and the hosts were keen to make a good start to the game. However even though West Ham dominated the possession, they were struggling to make any use of it.
The first real chance of the match came after the 17th minute when Craig Bellamy crossed the ball for Freddie Sears who saw his volleyed parried away brilliantly by Tim Howard. Everton's first real chance came in the second half when Jack Rodwell rose high to meet Mikel Arteta's cross but his header was well wide of the target.
West Ham took a deserved lead in the 63rd minute when Bellamy and Scott Parker combined well to release Collison who made no mistake from close range. The Hammers were dominating the possession and should have had scored at least another goal as Everton punished them for their missed chance with an equalizer in the 82nd minute.
Saha found himself in possession on the right flank and the French striker crossed the ball for Lescott who scored with a thumping header past Robert Green. The former Manchester United striker then put Everton in the lead three minutes later after latching on to a cross from Victor Anichebe.
Saha doubled the lead in the 87th minute taking control of a poor pass by Julian Faubert before slotting the ball past Green to score his third goal in two matches. Tags: Everton, Joleon Lescott, Louis Saha, West Ham, Craig Bellamy, Scott Parker, Julian Faubert Posted: |
