West Brom 2-2 Blackburn RoversTen man Blackburn Rovers side salvaged a hard fought draw with a late goal against West Brom in their Premier League clash on Saturday.
Benedict McCarthy had given Blackburn an early lead from the penalty sport but the South African striker got himself sent off in the 36th minute. West Brom took full advantage of their numerical superiority in the second half to first equalize through Roman Bednar and then taking the lead through Ishmael Miller before an 89th minute goal from Keith Andrews saw Blackburn collect a point from the draw.
With both the clubs struggling near the relegation zone, the match started on a cautious note with few chances created in the first half. A driving run from Jason Roberts inside the West Brom penalty area was impeded by Ryan Donk and referee Mike Jones had no choice but to award a penalty for Blackburn which was coolly converted by McCarthy.
Blackburn's hopes of securing their first win in five games received a big set back when McCarthy was sent off for a second book able offence after the striker intentionally handled a long ball.
West Brom stepped up the pressure in the second half and the hosts twice hit the post before taking the lead in the 55th minute through Bednar who slotted the ball past Paul Robinson from edge of the area.
The hosts snatched the lead seven minutes later with Miller smashing home Jonathan Greening's cross to send the home fans into a frenzy. With West Brom content to spend the rest of the game in their own half, Blackburn made them pay late in the game as Andrews blasted the ball past Carson to snatch a point for his side.
