West Brom 1-2 Manchester United

                                                                                                           Morrison 14        Rooney 3

                                                                                                                                      Hernandez 75

Manchester United still top the EPL table despite looking unimpressive in getting the result at the Hawthorns against luckless West Brom.

The Baggies part-created their own downfall, missing a second-half penalty with the score still 1-1.

But they got the rough end of some crucial mistakes by referee Chris Foy, with even United’s staff admitting they were lucky not to concede a 26th-minute penalty and have Gary Neville set-off for fouling Graham Dorrans as Dorrans was about to shoot.

Wayne Rooney’s first goal from open play since March gave United a fine start, guiding home Patrice Evra’s left-wing cross with a carefully-placed header in the third minute.

But West Brom were quickly into their stride and deservedly equalised on 14 minutes when James Morrison sweetly struck an unstoppable, curling right-foot shot from 20 yards.

And they should have gone ahead on 62 minutes when Jerome Thomas was tripped by Rio Ferdinand in the box only for Peter Odenwingie to miss horribly from the spot.

United should have had a penalty themselves on 74 minutes when Thomas blatantly handled in the box.

But they won the game a minute later when an unmarked Javier Hernandez headed home Wayne Rooney’s left-wing corner.
