West Brom 0-5 Manchester United

Manchester United moved two points clear at the top of the league table with a brilliant attacking display that saw them thrash West Brom 5-0 on Tuesday.

It was a record breaking performance from United who have now gone 11 matches without conceding a goal, beating the 10 match record held by Chelsea. The defending champions were on the attack right from the kick off and were soon in the lead when Dimitar Berbatov was played in by Michael Carrick and the Bulgarian striker made no mistake from close range.

West Brom were harshly reduced to 10 men in the 40th minute when Paul Robinson was sent off by referee Rob Styles for a challenge on Ji Sung Park. United made full use of their numerical superiority by doubling the lead in the 44th minute through another howler by keeper Scott Carson who dropped a Ryan Giggs free-kick straight to Carlos Tevez who gleefully accepted his chance.

United continued to dominate in the second half and it was game over by the 60th minute when Nemanja Vidic headed home Giggs corner to put the visitors three goals ahead. Cristiano Ronaldo got into action five minutes later as he latched on to a brilliant pass by Giggs before slotting the ball past Carson.

Ronaldo completed the proceedings eight minutes later by scoring his second goal of the match to complete a thumping win for United.
