West Brom 0 - 3 ChelseaLeague leaders Chelsea recorded a 10th successive away win in the top flight Premiership football in the process equaling Tottenham's 48-year-old record as they blanked west Brom 0-3 away at The Hawthorns last weekend.
Albion manager Tony Mowbray would have been hopeful his side could make a fight of it and they did try in the first 30 minutes as they passed the ball around, but three goals in 12 minutes in the first half sealed their fate and ensured they remain at the bottom of the table.
Chelsea started off in a sublime fashion and Salomon Kalou almost put them ahead when he was offered space in the six-yard box only to drag his shot across the face of the goal. West Brom keeper Scott Carson was kept busy throughout the game and he was instrumental in keeping Lampard out after he had been played through by Malouda.
Jose Bosingwa finally let rip in the 34th minute from 30 yards out to give the Blues a deserved lead. Albion tried to regroup, but were unable to stop Nicolas Anelka who doubled Chelsea's lead after 38 minutes, when he got to the end of Malouda's headed pass and beat Carson.
The French striker got his second in the first-half injury-time when he latched onto a pass from Kalou and beat Carson.
In the second half Kim Do-Heon came on for striker Roman Bednar, but he was unable to prevent Chelsea dominating possession. Malouda shot from a narrow nagle and Carson managed to keep him out.
Anleka had a chance to grab a hat trick late on, but his shot was blocked by Carson. The win took Chelsea to the top of the table on goal difference over Liverpool. Tags: Tony Mowbray, Chelsea, Jose Bosingwa, Kim Do-Heon Posted: |
