Tottenham Hotspur 1-3 Arsenal

Tottenham's season continued to splutter with yet another defeat at the hands of their arch rivals Arsenal on Saturday.

Spurs had taken the lead in the 15th minute through Gareth Bale, but a superb comeback by Arsenal in the second half saw Emmanuel Adebayor score two goals with Fabregas chipping one in between to complete a comfortable victory to go top in the table.

Arsenal started the match strongly as Adebayor forced a diving save by Paul Robinson from 25 yards out as Spurs struggled to contain the Gunners. But the hosts took a shock lead in the 15 minute when Bale stepped up to take the free kick, following a foul on Dimitar Berbatov, and the Welsh international curled the ball around the Arsenal wall before the ball slipped into Almunia's near post.

Arsenal continued to press forward in search of an equalizer and Adebayor was once again denied by a superb save by Robinson. The English international was once again on form as he made another great save in the 25th minute to deny Alexander Hleb.

The visitors almost equalized in the 32nd minute when Abou Diaby latched on to Hleb's pass and though he managed to beat Robinson, his shot smashed against the post before going out.

Berbatov had a great chance to double the lead in the 51st minute when Steed Malbranque released the Bulgarian international and though Berbatov managed to round up Almunia, he was unable to beat Kolo Toure which would have left him with an open net to score.

Arsenal finally broke the Spurs defense in the 65th minute when Adebayor reached Fabregas' curling free kick ahead of Robinson to put his side back on level terms. Tottenham tried to chalk up a response as Robbie Keane hit a stinging drive that was blocked by Almunia.

The Gunners then snatched the lead 10 minutes before full time when Fabregas controlled Rosicky's pass before hitting a great drive from 30 yards out that smashed into the top corner. Adebayor put the match beyond Tottenham's reach with his second goal in the dying minutes as pressure increased on Martin Jol to turn things round for Tottenham.
