Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Portsmouth

Late goals from Darren Bent and Jamie O'Hara propelled Tottenham Hotspur to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Portsmouth in their Premiership clash on Saturday.

Portsmouth matched their opponents for most of the game and troubled the Spurs defense time and again. But inspired substitutions by manager Juande Ramos saw Bent and O'Hara take to the field and both the players scored in space of two minutes to give their side all three points from the clash.

After a quite opening to the match, Spurs create their first real chance in the 30th minute when Michael Dawson's stinging volley smashed against the bar while Pascal Chimbonda and Tom Huddlestone went inches wide of the post.

Portsmouth almost took the lead against the run of the play Sean Davis chipped the ball over Paul Robinson's head from 25 yards out but the Spurs keeper raced backwards to tip the shot over the bar. Pompey settled down, content to pass the ball without create any real chance as manager Harry Redknapp lined up his side with five men in the midfield.

The visitors continued to frustrate Spurs' attacking moves in the second half prompting Ramos to introduce Bent and O'Hara, replacing Dawson and Aaron Lennon. Kanu had a great chance to put his side in the lead after latching on to Glen Johnson's long pass but though the Nigerian striker managed to beat Robinson, his weak effort was easily cleared by Didier Zokora.

Tottenham took the lead in the 80th minute when Bent was the first to react to Berbatov's miss-hit shot and headed home from six yards out. Two minutes later it was game over as Bent cut inside the left flank, drawing James out before squaring the ball for O'Hara to double the lead.

Portsmouth tried to press forward but were hampered by their defensive set up as Spurs hung on to claim all three points from the clash.
