Tottenham Hotspur 0 - 1 EvertonTottenham experienced their first home defeat under new boss Harry Redknapp when they were beaten 0-1 by Everton at the White Hart Lane last Sunday. The opening period was very dull with both sides deciding to defend deep rather than launch any attacks. The only important event of note was the injury to Aiyegbeni Yakubu. The Toffees striker has ruptured his Achilles tendon and is likely to miss out the rest of the season. Tom Huddlestone had the first strike at goal, glancing his header across the goalmouth. Tim Howard was not troubled at all in the first half and the same was true of his counterpart Heurelho Gomes in the Spurs goal. Marouane Fellaini then had a couple of chances that were saved comfoirtably by Gomes. Sreve Pienaar wore the wrong shirt after the break and delayed the start by some minutes, but he made up for it by scoring within six minutes of the restart. The South Africa midfielder took a shot off Mikel Arteta's free-kick, which deflected into goal off Corluka. Pienaar then tested Gomes with a swerving shot, which was well saved by the Brazilian keeper. Roman Pavlyuchenko had a chance to level late on but his shot was parried by Howard. Campbell also had a chance in injury time, but his shot deflected just wide to hand David Moyes a win in his 300th game in charge of Everton.
