Tottenham 3-1 WolvesVan der Vaart (pen) 77 Fletcher 45 Pavlyuchenko 87 Hutton 90 + 1 Three goals in the last 13 minutes gave Spurs victory over a determined Wolves side, after they created and squandered numerous chances, especially in the first half. Wolves were starting to look like holding on for at least a point as the game entered its final quarter-of-an-hour. But defender Stephen Ward’s lunge on Alan Hutton in the penalty area gave Spurs a lifeline. And, with a bit of luck, the North Londoners took full advantage. The impressive Gareth Bale forged first-half opportunities for Spurs’ strike duo Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane, the latter heading badly wide from eight yards. Wolves keeper Marcus Hahnemann made fine saves from Bale himself, Crouch and the impressive Rafael Van der Vaart. And his side took a shock lead on half-time when Steven Fletcher slid home Kevin Foley’s right-wing cross. After the interval Hutton came close to his first-ever EPL goal and Keane was off-target once more before Van der Vaart’s penalty finally levelled matters. Substitute Roman Pavlyuchenko side-footed Spurs ahead on 87 minutes when Tom Huddlestone’s deflected shot fell kindly to him. And Hutton got his goal in stoppage time when Richard Stearman’s attempted clearance rebounded off the Scot and looped into the net.
