Tottenham 2-1 Chelsea

                                                                                               Defoe 15 (pen)      Lampard 90 + 2

                                                                                                 Bale 44

Chelsea’s lead at the top of the EPL is just one point after this rare but comprehensive White Hart Lane defeat.

Spurs made it two London derby wins in three days, thanks to Jermaine Defoe’s penalty and Gareth Bale’s strike, his second of the season, three days after his first.

And with captain John Terry seeing red after two second-half bookable offences, Chelsea could have lost heavily.

Spurs went ahead on 15 minutes when Terry was harshly penalised for handball in the area.

Defoe slammed home the penalty. And Chelsea keeper Petr Cech was beaten again by Bale’s low right-foot drive on 44 minutes.

Spurs keeper Heurelho Gomes made a superb save from a Frank Lampard volley right on half-time.

But Chelsea were in disarray when Didier Drogba pulled up injured as he went to kick-off the second half, just after the Blues had made all their substitutions.

And Spurs had numerous a chances to add to their tally before and after Terry’s fouls on Roman Pavlyuchenko and Bale drew yellow cards from referee Phil Dowd.

Frank Lampard slid home Michael Ballack’s cross in stoppage time. But even then there was only time for Pavlyuchenko to miss another Tottenham chance.
