Tottenham 2 - 0 Bolton

Tottenham bid goodbye to the gloom and doom of the Juande Ramos reign with a resounding 2-0 win over Bolton in what was also new boss Harry Redknapp's first game in charge of them.

The win does not pull Spurs out of the drop zone, but it does give fans some hope in what could be the lead up to an exciting schedule of games leading up to Christmas. Redknapp sat quietly in the dugout as fans roared their approval and exhorted their team to go fight.

This win, which was the club's first league win of the season after playing nine games, is sure to boost morale among the supporters as well as the players themselves. The game began with Harry Redknapp presented to the Spurs fans. He sat in the dugout even though the team was picked by reserve-team coach Clive Allen. Hearteningly for fans, Ledley King was able to start the game just four days after the loss to Udinese in the UEFA Cup.

Jamie O'Hara set the ball rolling for Spurs with a long distance shot that was deflected, while Andy O'Brien was on hand to head over a corner that could have fallen to Roman Pavlyuchenko. However the Russian was involved in his side's 18th-minute opener that was set up by David Bentley from the right side.

However Spurs were still nervous and Benoit Assou-Ekotto's clearance fell to Kevin Davies whose shot went well wide. Johan Elmander then got in a fine shot, but King was on hand to clear from the line.

After the break, Bolton were reduced to 10 men when Gavin McCann picked up a second booking in the game. Darren Bent came on for Pavlyuchenko and could have made an immediate impact, but he fired over the bar.

On 76 minutes, Bolton keeper Jaaskelainen brought down Bent in the area and the striker gratefully put away the resulting penalty to give Redknapp the perfect start to his career at the Lane.
