Tottenham 1 - 1 BoltonBolton kept their survival hopes alive with a 1-1 draw away to Tottenham last Saturday. The Trotters are currently 16th with 33 points from 36 games, but are just one point away from relegation.
Gary Megson is confident that Bolton will stay up, but they have a difficult last two games against Sunderland and Chelsea. At White Hart Lane, the Wanderers were pumped up and displayed grit. Berbatov and Robbie Keane got the Spurs going early on and the latter had the first chance of the game being able to get at the end of a Berbatov flick, but his shot went straight to Ali Habsi.
Tottenham played without heart as they went about their business, but it must be noted that the chances were there in the first half. Just before the break, Keane had a chance from a close range, but his shot was deflected off by Ivan Campo.
After the break, Gary Megson brought on Stelios Giannakopoulos and El-Hadji Diouf. His changes were immediately rewarded after the latter sent through Gretar Steinsson on the right wing. His cross was not clear properly and Stelios was on hand to nod home barely 30 seconds after the restart.
Tottenham replied almost immediately through Steed Malbranque in the 53nd minute after he collected a Keane pass and bundled it past Al Habsi. Darren Bent was sent on by Juande Ramos, but he could not make much of an impact although he was involved in a couple of fine moves with Robbie Keane.
Both teams had decent chances toward the end, but neither goalkeeper was really tested and they had to be satisfied with one point each. Tags: Bolton, Spurs, Tottenham, Gary Megson Posted: |
