Slovenia 2-2 United StatesBirsa 13 Donovan 48 Ljubijankic 42 Bradley 82 The United States came from two goals down to snatch a dramatic late draw in this Group C thriller in Johannesburg. Slovenia were 2-0 up at half-time and seemingly coasting to a victory which would have sent them through to the last 16 before their final group game. But they conceded immediately after half-time. And the Americans equalised with eight minutes left and were denied a winner when Maurice Edu’s late strike was very harshly disallowed for a penalty box infringement. The Slovenes went ahead after Valter Birsa’s terrific 13th-minute left-foot volley. And they doubled their advantage three minutes before the break through Zlatan Ljubijankic’s neat finish. Landon Donovan pulled one back on 48 minutes, advancing down the right flank and slamming the ball home from a tight angle. Michael Bradley equalised on 82 minutes, latching onto Jozy Altidore’s knockdown and toe-poking the ball home right-footed, before Edu’s late drama.
