Reading 0 - 1 TottenhamSteve Coppell's men are in the relegation quagmire and could realistically be eliminated unless they turn it around in their last game and other results go their way. It was expected that a vocal crowd at the Madejski would spur the Royals on, instead it was the Spurs who were walking taller at the end of the game. Darren Bent was the first one to get a few good chances as Tottenham took command of the game from the word go. Steed Malbranque then had a chance to put Tottenham ahead when Jenas' run was obstructed, but the referee played the advantage. It was as early as the 16th minute that Robbie Keane made Leroy Lita had a chance to reply immediately, but his shot went just wide, while Keane began wrecking havoc in the Royals' penalty area. After the break, Malbranque had a chance to seal the win, but his header went into the side netting after he was given a clear look at the goal from a Keane cross. Andre Bikey then had a chance for Reading just after the hour mark, but his shot was deflected to safety by Didier Zokora. Dave Kitson and Rosenior had late chances, but Radek Cerny was on hand to save their shots and give Tottenham a well deserved win.
