Olympiacos 1-1 Lazio

That this live football match was played behind closed doors was a shame as the game was very entertaining played by two very even sides in the Karaiskaki Stadium. Both teams had chances in the first half to take the lead with Lua Lua being the most dangerous for the home team with his speed and control.

The first half ended goalless and the players must have known that this would be a very tight game with few goals being scored. It would turn out to be the home team who would take the lead as Predrag Djordjevic managed to thread a pass through to Luciano Galletti, who calmly side stepped the oncoming Lazio keeper Marco Ballotta to slot the ball into the net and give the home team a precious goal. Celebrations were muted though in the empty stadium as the Greek club served their punishment for crowd trouble in the match against AS Roma last season.

Both teams continued to push forward looking for goals with Lua Lua coming close to sealing the victory for Olympiacos. However the visitors saw their persistence pay off on 77 when Luciano Zauri equalized for Lazio after beating the home keeper Antonis Nikopolidis from outside of the penalty box.

Olympiacos manager Takis Lemonis will be the unhappier of the two managers after it looked like his side would take the points in the live football match which could be extremely significant at the end of the group phase. Delio Rossi the manager for Lazio will be very happy indeed and will hope to capitalise on the hard earned point when they entertain Real Madrid in a few weeks time. If they can take points from the Spanish giants they will feel confident of progressing to the next stage.
