Nurnberg 0-2 Everton

Everton made it two wins in two games when they emerged convincing winners in the 2-0 victory over Nurnberg in the UEFA Cup clash on Thursday.

Mikel Arteta scored from the penalty spot with just seven minutes remaining for the final whistle while Victor Anichebe put the result beyond doubt five minutes later as Everton cemented their position at the top of Group A and are favorites to qualify to the next round.

It was a well deserved victory for David Moyes' side as they dominated the German club right from the start and could have taken the lead with just 20 seconds after the kick off Nurnberg keeper Jaromir Blazek parried Arteta's shot straight to Tim Cahill who saw his shot take a deflection and clip the left post.

Ivan Saenko had the hosts' first chance of the match when he capitalized on Joleon Lescott's mistake and raced behind the Everton defense but Tim Howard rushed forward to deny the striker. Nurnberg's best chance of the match fell to Peer Kluge but the midfielder saw his shot fly inches wide of the target.

The match was heading towards an entertaining draw when Leandro Glauber fouled Anichebe inside the penalty area and Arteta coolly converted the chance to give Everton the lead. The youngster then got on the score sheet himself when he went on a driving run from the right wing before slotting the ball past Blazek from a tight angle to put the result beyond Nurnberg's reach.
