Manchester United 2-0 ChelseaAvram Grant Chelsea career got off to a worst possible start as Chelsea lost 2-0 to Manchester United on Sunday.
Carlos Tevez scored his first goal in a Manchester United shirt to give the hosts the lead before Louis Saha came off the bench to slot home a penalty in the final minute of the game as Chelsea finished the game with 10 men after John Obi Mikel was sent off after a two footed foul on Patrice Evra.
United were on the attack right from the kick off and could have taken the lead when Wayne Rooney dodged Ben Haim before releasing a curling shot that was just tipped wide by Petr Cech. The hosts continued to press ahead and should have had a penalty when Joe Cole tripped Evra in the box but referee Mike Dean dismissed the appeal.
Chelsea were struggling to get their act together in the final third and received a set back in the 32nd minute when Obi Mikel was harshly sent off after a tackle on Evra. The visitors seemed to have lost the plot as United continued to press forward and were finally rewarded deep in the first half injury time when Tevez reached Giggs' cross before Cech and headed home from a couple of yards out.
United came out into the second half intent on killing off the game with a second goal, but were unable to create any real chances as Chelsea defended well to keep the attackers at bay. But United finally got the second goal in the final minute of the match when Saha was fouled inside the area and the striker converted from the spot to leave Chelsea with just one point from last three games.
