Manchester United 4-0 Dynamo Kiev

Manchester United produced yet another scintillating display to become one of the first teams to qualify to the knockout stages of the Champions League with a 4-0 victory over Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday.

Gerard Pique put United in the lead with a 31st minute strike before Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney continued their red hot form in front of the goal by hitting the target in either side of the half time whistle. Cristiano Ronaldo then got his first and United's fourth goal of the night two minutes before full time.

Dynamo Kiev would have been pleased with the start to the match as they held out against United for more than half an hour with the only notable chance coming in form of a deflected shot by Nani that flew wide of the target. In fact Dynamo should have extracted a save from Edwin Van der Sar when Carlos Correa wastefully fired wide of the target after having a clear sight on the goal.

However United took the lead in the 31st minute when Michael Carrick's header hit Carlos Tevez's head before looping towards Pique who made no mistake in heading the ball home from close range. Six minutes later Tevez turned scorer with a driving run from inside his own half as he exchanged passes with Rooney before smashing the ball past Olexandr Shovkovskiy to double the lead.

The hosts continued to press forward in the second half and bagged a third in the 76th minute when Rooney latched on to Nani's cross to slot home his first for the night. With clock ticking out, United completed the rout two minutes before the final whistle when Ronaldo launched on a trademark run before slotting the ball past Shovkovskiy to score his fourth Champions League goal of the season in as many games.
