Manchester United 7-1 Blackburn Rovers Berbatov 2, 27, 47, 62, 69 Samba 83
Park 23 Nani 48 Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov scored five goals as Manchester United destroyed a truly dreadful Blackburn side at Old Trafford. United dominated from first whistle to last, and Berbatov nearly grabbed an EPL record sixth goal near the end as the hosts toyed with their opposition. They were ahead in only the second minute when he converted Wayne Rooney flick-on from a Nani cross. And Park Ji-Sung dinked the second goal over Rovers keeper Paul Robinson’s head on 23 minutes after a crisp one-two with Rooney. United were gifted their third goal when left-back Pascal Chimbonda’s backpass went straight to Berbatov on the edge of the area and he fired home right-footed. Rovers’ embarrassment grew as they conceded in the second and third minutes of the second half. Berbatov complete g his hat-trick after starting and finishing a wonderful move from one penalty box to the other. And Nani’s left-foot shot made it 5-0 in the next attack. Berbatov helped himself to two more, forcing United’s sixth goal in from close range on 62 minutes and scoring from a tight angle on 70 minutes after his cross to Rooney was blocked. Christopher Samba’s 83rd-minute header was no consolation for well-beaten Blackburn. Tags: Manchester United, Park Ji-Sung, Pascal Chimbonda, Blackburn Posted: |
