Manchester United 4-0 West Brom

Manchester United notched up their fifth straight win in all competitions with a 4-0 trashing of West Bromwich Albion in their Premiership encounter on Saturday.

After a frustrating first half, United took the lead 11 minutes into the second half with Wayne Rooney scoring his eighth goal in six matches. The England international then set up Cristiano Ronaldo in the 69th minute before Dimitar Berbatov scored his first league goal for United while Nani added the fourth in the final minute of the game.

West Brom manager Tony Mowbray made his intentions clear right from the start by fielding a five man midfield and the visitors managed to frustrate United throughout the first half.

Rooney looked to have put United in the lead on 21 minutes when he beat a West Brom defender before slotting the ball past Scott Carson but referee Mark Halsey ruled out the effort claiming that the striker had fouled inside the area.

United took a deserved lead 11 minutes into the second half when he raced forward to meet Berbatov's through pass before beating Carson in the goal. Two goals in three minutes midway through the second half put the result beyond West Brom's reach as Ronaldo and Berbatov both hit the target from close range.

Nani added a fourth late in injury time with Rooney once again the creator, finding the Portuguese winger with a perfect cross who was left with a simple finish into an open net.
