Manchester City 2-1 ReadingAn injury time goal by Stephen Ireland saw Manchester City maintain their 100 percent home record with a 2-1 victory over Reading in their live Premier League match on Saturday.
Man City dominated the proceedings throughout the match and had taken an early lead through Martin Petrov after a goal mouth scramble. However Reading pulled level two minutes before half time through James Harper and looked set for sharing the points before Ireland smashed home a stunning effort to grab all three points for his team.
City started the game strongly and took a deserved lead in the 11th minute when Ireland crossed the ball inside the area to set up a goal mouth scramble that saw Elano hit the post before Petrov popped up to slot home City into the lead.
The hosts dominated the possession in the first half with Reading content to sit back and launch counter attacks. Reading had just one shot on goal for a majority of the first half when Bobby Convey miscued his volley straight into the hands of the keeper..
However the visitors drew level two minutes before half time when Harper latched on to Convey's pass to slide home from close range. Reading put out an improved second half performance as City struggled to create chances.
With time running out it looked as if both the teams will have to share the points before Ireland raced ahead to smash home Geovanni's header with a first time shot past a helpless Hahnemann. Tags: Manchester City, live Premier League, Man City, Reading Posted: |
