Liverpool 3-1 Blackburn Rovers

Liverpool put behind all the boardroom turmoil to register a comfortable 3-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers in their Premiership clash on Sunday.

After a hard fought first half, Liverpool took a deserved lead in the second half through Steven Gerrard in the 60th minute. Fernando Torres put the match beyond Blackburn's reach by doubling the lead eight minutes from full time. Andriy Voronin added the third in the final minute before Roque Santa Cruz grabbed one back for Blackburn in the injury time.

An action packed first half was littered by poor decisions by referee Alan Wiley with Blackburn Rovers suffering the first one early in the game when Jason Roberts' goal was ruled out for off side even though replays showed that the striker was level with Martin Skrtel.

Liverpool too would have been disappointed with the decisions that came their way as Wiley dismissed two blatant penalty appeals in the first half, first when Gerrard was clipped by Friedel inside the area and second when Samba pushed the Liverpool captain as the two raced to meet the ball.

However Gerrard had the last laugh as he put Liverpool in the lead on the stroke of the hour mark, latching on to Lucas' pass before coolly slotting the ball past Friedel. Blackburn tried to step up the pressure in search of an equalizer but were unable to break through the Liverpool defense.

Torres wrapped up the match for Liverpool in the 82nd minute when he headed home Gerrard's cross before Voronin added the third in the final minute of the match. Blackburn finally managed to score a goal in the injury time with Santa Cruz latching on to a poor clearance by Skrtel to slot the ball past Reina.
