After the break, Torres had a golden chance to equalize, but his feet seemed rooted in cement and the chance went abegging.

Liverpool piled on the pressure, but Ferdinand and Vidic ensured there would be no celebrations at Anfield ahead of Rafa Benitez' crucial meeting with co-owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks.
