Liverpool 0-0 Birmingham CityLiverpool's slump in form continued with a frustrating 0-0 draw against Birmingham City n their Premiership clash on Saturday.
Fernando Torres was once again left on the bench as Rafa Benitez went into the match with strike duo of Voronin and Kuyt. But even though Liverpool played with all the four strikers for the final 15 minutes, they were unable to break down a stubborn Birmingham defense who were delighted going home with a point.
John Arne Riise was the one who came close to breaking the deadlock, but his shot went just wide. Steven Gerrard also came close, but his shot was cleared from the lines, much to Liverpool's frustration.
Birmingham suffered what looks to be a serious setback as Borja Oubina was taken off the field just 10 minutes into the game. Andriy Voronin and Peter Crouch also came close for Liverpool, but it was a decidedly lackluster game as both sides ticked each other off.
Torres who was left on the bench came on the hour and almost gave the Reds a winner with an exceptional bicycle kick from Pennant's cross late on. However the shot sailed just over the bar and kept the game deadlocked at 0-0.
Liverpool are currently in fourth spot with 12 points from six games, while Birmingham are on the 14th spot with eight points from seven matches. Birmingham next face Manchester United, while Liverpool travel to Wigan.
