Liverpool 4-4 ArsenalLiverpool put up yet another thrilling display for a second match in a row but were once again held to a 4-4 draw, this time by Arsenal on Tuesday. It was always going to be difficult for Rafa Benitez's side to beat an in-form Arsenal and though they dominated the exchanges in the first half, three points became even more difficult nine minutes from the half time whistle when Arsenal took the lead through Andrei Arshavin who slotted home Cesc Fabregas' cross from the right. Liverpool stepped up the pressure in the second half and turned the game on its head in space of three minutes as first Fernando Torres headed home Dirk Kuyt's cross before Yossi Benayoun put Liverpool in the lead with Kuyt once again the creator after latching on to some horrible defending at the back. But Liverpool too were affected by some poor defending at the back as Arshavin equalized for the Gunners in the 67th minute, snatching the ball from Alvaro Arbeloa before letting loose a stunning strike past Pepe Reina. Arshavin grabbed a deserved hat trick three minutes later to swing the pendulum back into Arsenal's favor, latching on to a poor clearance by Fabio Aurelio before slotting the ball to give his side the lead. However Arsenal's lead was a short one as Liverpool equalized two minutes later with Torres once again leveling the scores. It was not over yet as Arshavin scored his fourth goal of the night with a swift counter from a Liverpool corner. Just when it looked as if Arsenal had done enough to claim victory, Benayoun grabbed an injury time equalizer to snatch a point for his side before the final whistle put an end to a thrilling encounter.
