Japan gained their first-ever World Cup finals victory on foreign soil, through Keisuke Honda’s strike against a lethargic Cameroon.

Honda broke the deadlock with his close-range, left-foot finish from Dalsuke Matsui’s right-wing cross.

 

The closest Cameroon came to scoring was Stephane Mbia’s 30-yard piledriver against the crossbar on 85 minutes.
