Inter Milan 0-0 Manchester UnitedManchester United will be disappointed that they were unable to come away with a victory against their Champions League knockout round first leg clash against Inter Milan on Tuesday. The defending champions were the dominant team at San Siro and had a number of chances to score a vital away goal but were unable to convert their chances allowing Inter with a chance of progressing to the next round when the two teams meet again in the second leg at Old Trafford. Jonny Evans and John O'Shea passed fitness tests to start the game with Ferguson resting both Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez and preferring just Dimitar Berbatov up front. The first real chance of the match fell to Cristiano Ronaldo who saw his first free kick fly inches wide of the target. The Portuguese winger went closer minutes later when his header off Ryan Giggs' corner was saved brilliantly by keeper Julio Cesar. Berbatov was then played clear by a brilliant through ball by Giggs but was unable to cross the ball for an unmarked Ji Sung Park. Giggs himself had a great chance to score when he turned around Nelson Rivas' challenge but only managed to shoot straight at Cesar from a tight angle. Inter put up an improved performance in the second half but were unable to break through the United defense and it was the visitors who looked to break the deadlock but were hindered by some brilliant saves by Cesar as the match ended in a stalemate.
