Hull City 2-2 Manchester City

Marcio Geovanni scored against his former club to help Hull City to their first point in four matches as they held Manchester City to a 2-2 draw on Sunday.

Daniel Cousin had put Hull in a 14th minute lead thanks to a horrible defensive error from Tal Ben-Haim but two goals in space of eight minutes put Manchester City in the lead before half time. Hull City managed to equalize a minute past the hour mark with Geovanni scoring with a deflected free kick as the Tigers stopped a three game losing streak to remain in the top six of the league table.

Manchester City were expected to roll over Hull City who had lost their last three matches but the Tigrers' defense was in no mood to make the job easy for Mark Hughes' side. The hosts took a shock lead in the 14th minute when Ben-Haim played a weak back pass for Joe Hart and Cousin latched on to the free ball before slotting it past the Manchester City keeper to put his side in front.

It was the end of the game for Hart who suffered an injury and was replaced by Kasper Schmeichel. The visitors stepped up the pressure in search of an equalizer and were rewarded in the 37th minutes thanks to a defensive blunder Kamil Zayatte whose' heavy touch took the ball too far from the defender, allowing Ireland to pull Manchester City back on level terms.

Ireland then put the visitors in front with a brilliant effort in the 45th minute, controlling a cross from Javier Garrido before smashing the ball past Boaz Myhill. However it was not long before Hull pulled level.

Geovanni curled in a brilliant free kick that took a deflection off Vincent Kompany before flying into the net. Both the teams had good chances to regain the lead late in the game but were unable to hit the back of the net and were forced to share the points.
