Hull City 1-0 West HamHull City's fairytale start to the season continued with a third straight league win over a London club with Phil Brown's side securing a 1-0 win on Sunday.
Hull looked comfortable throughout the game and took a deserved lead through Michael Turner six minutes into the second half. West Ham tried to stage a come back late in the game but Hull hung on to their narrow lead to move third in the league table.
Hull went into the match high on confidence following back to back away wins against Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in their last two matches with West Ham looking to bounce back from their heavy defeat to Bolton in their last match.
However it was Hull who created the first real chance of the match early on when Daniel Cousin saw his shot fly inches wide of the post. Carlton Cole should have had put West Ham in the lead minutes later when Craig Bellamy found him with a pin point cross but the West Ham striker only managed to shoot straight into the waiting hands of Boaz Myhill.
West Ham missed another sitter midway through the first half when Scott Parker found Herita Ilunga from a corner but the defender somehow managed to hit his header wide of the target.
The Tigers made West Ham pay for the missed chances six minutes into the second half when Turner rose high to head home Andy Dawson's corner to put his side in the lead.
West Ham immediately struck back and almost leveled the scores seconds later when Valon Behrami found Cole inside the area with a great cross from the right flank but the striker lost his balance and hit the underside of the post.
Kamil Zayatte went close to doubling the lead for Hull while Matthew Etherington and Cole had decent chances to pull West Ham level but Hull City hung on to claim their first home win since beating Fulham on the opening day of the season.
