Hull City 0-3 ChelseaHull City suffered their first defeat in seven matches as they were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by Chelsea on Wednesday.
Frank Lampard gave Chelsea an early lead in the 3rd minute before Nicolas Anelka doubled the lead five minutes into the second half. Hull tried to get themselves back into the game but Florent Malouda put the result beyond doubt by scoring a third goal 15 minutes from the final whistle.
Hull went into the game in a confident mood after winning their last four matches but suffered an early set back when Lampard latched on to a deflection off Paul McShane before chipping the ball over Boaz Myhill to put his side in the lead.
Chelsea were dominating the possession but though they had taken an early lead, the Blues were struggling to create any real chances and should have had scored more goals in the first half.
Hull's hopes of a come back in the second half received a big blow in the 50th minute when Anelka capitalized on some poor defending and slotted home the ball from close range to double the lead.
Malouda wasted a golden chance to hit the target while Anelka's weak shot was easily saved by Myhill before the French midfielder finally scored his first goal of the match by converting Ricardo Carvalho in the 75th minute to secure all three points for his side.
