Hull City 0-0 LiverpoolLiverpool’s season ended in appropriate style when they fought out an unsatisfactory goalless draw at already relegated Hull, leaving them in seventh place in the EPL, barely qualifying for next season’s Europa League. Rafa Benitez’s men had the better of the game’s few chances, striking the woodwork twice, while Hull’s Mark Cullen headed the Tigers’ clearest opportunity wide. The game was only notable otherwise for Benitez handing a league debut to Jack Robinson, at 16 years and 251 days, Liverpool’s youngest-ever player. Nabil El Zhar, in his first EPL start of the season, brought a fine early save from Hull keeper Matt Duke. And Dirk Kuyt’s header was cleared off the line by George Boateng when the resultant corner wasn’t dealt with. Youngsters Will Atkinson and Cullen then combined well, only for the un-marked Cullen to head Atkinson’s fine right-wing cross wide from just outside the six-yard box. Shortly before the break, Alberto Aquilani struck the underside of the bar with a right-foot shot from twelve yards, and a well-placed Daniel Agger hit the rebound high, wide and ugly. Steven Gerrard nearly won the game late on, hitting the post after a driving run from deep inside his own half.
