Hapoel Tel-Aviv 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Juande Ramos pulled off his first UEFA Cup victory with Tottenham Hotspur as his club chalked up a convincing 2-0 victory over Hapoel Tel-Aviv on Thursday.

Robbie Keane had given Spurs the lead in the 26th minute before Dimitar Berbatov showed glimpses of his best with a calmly taken chance to double the lead 5 minutes later as Tel-Aviv finished the game with 10 men after Gal Shish was shown a second yellow card five minutes into the second half.

Tottenham started the game with a make shift defense with Pascal Chimbonda playing as a central defender after Ramos decided to leave out Younes Kaboul on the bench. And the move very nearly backfired for Spurs as Bebars Natcho latched on to a mistake by Chimbonda to play in Fabio Junior but the Brazilian's shot lacked power leaving Paul Robinson with a simple save.

The hosts continued to enjoy a large share of the possession but Spurs stormed to the lead with their first chance of the match when Keane found Steed Malbranque on the left before racing forward to volley the cross past a helpless Vincent Enyeama.

The visitors doubled the lead five minutes later through Berbatov, whose first shot was blocked brilliantly by Gabriel dos Santos but the ball fell straight to Malbranque who crossed the ball for the Bulgarian striker who made no mistake with a well placed header.

Any chances of a come back by Hapoel Tel-Aviv hosts were washed off five minutes into the second half when Shish, who was already booked for a tackle on Berbatov in the 41st minute, was shown a second yellow for fouling Lennon.
