Fulham 3-3 Manchester CityMartin Petrov scored twice for Manchester City as Fulham put up yet another determined performance to hold Sven Goran Eriksson's side to a 3-3 draw.
Fulham had taken an early lead through Simon Davis but Petrov equalized for City nine minutes before half time. Hameur Bouazza scored two minutes into the second half to restore Fulham's lead but Emile Mpenza and then Petrov hit the target to put City in the lead for the first time in the match before Danny Murphy brought parity for Fulham in the 75th minute.
Eriksson named a defensive line up, happy to soak up the pressure before launching counter attacks. But the plan was undone as early as in the 13th minute when Fulham took the lead in a counter attack of their own.
Bouazza took possession of the ball inside his own penalty box and after a series of passes in the midfield, found himself free on the left wing. The 22-year old then released a perfect cross for Davis to head home Fulham's first goal of the match.
Though the hosts tried to build up on the lead, they were unable to beat Kasper Schmeichel. After a poor start, City slowly started to get back their rhythm and equalized in the 36th minute when Petrov found himself in possession and raced towards Fulham goal, side stepping Chris Baird in the process before firing a left footed drive past Antti Niemi.
Fulham restored their lead two minutes into the second half when Bouazza stepped up to take the free kick after Kamara was fouled 25-yards away from the target and the 22-year old smashed home through the City wall to put Fulham back into the lead.
However City hit back almost immediately when Mpenza headed the ball into the path of Elano whose shot was brilliantly saved by Niemi. But the ball rolled into the path of Mpenza and the striker made not mistake from close range.
City took the lead in the 60th minute when Petrov played a one-two with Elano before smashing a first time shot towards the target, which just sneaked into the near post with Niemi stranded in a poor position.
Sanchez made a double substitution in the 67th minute, bringing on Murphy and Seol Ki-Hyeon to replace David Healy and Hameur Bouazza. The move paid rich dividends eight minutes later when an unmarked Murphy controlled the ball in the penalty box before slotting home the equalizer from close range.
The former England international could have put Fulham ahead a minute later but his shot from 22 yards out went narrowly over the bar with Schmeichel trying to cover the opening. The Danish keeper then made a hash of a simple cross in the 88th minute when his attempted punch deflected behind for a corner.
