Fulham 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur slumped to their first defeat under manager Harry Redknapp as they were beaten 2-1 by Fulham in their Premier League clash on Saturday.

Goals from Simon Davies and Andrew Johnson put Fulham in a comfortable 2-0 lead midway through the second half and though Tottenham threatened late in the game by pulling one back through Fraizer Campbell, the Fulham defense hung on to claim their second straight league win.

Tottenham went into the game on the back of three wins in four league matches under Redknapp and were confident of moving further away from the relegation zone with all three points against Fulham. However it was the hosts who had an upper hand early in the game with Johnson missing a great chance to break the deadlock from 12 yards out.

Heurelho Gomes pulled off a brilliant save to deny Clint Dempsey but all his good work was undone in the 33rd minute when the Brazilian keeper let slip a simple save through his hands and into the goal to give Fulham a fortuitous lead.

Spurs were enjoying the majority of the possession but were unable to create any real chances leaving Redknapp with no choice but to revert back to a 4-4-2 formation as he looked to maintain his unbeaten start.

The game was all but over in the 70th minute when the Spurs' defense failed to clear a set piece and Johnson was the quickest to react and slot home his first goal of the night. Fulham continued to press forward with Jimmy Bullard and Davies but Gomes was equal to the challenge.

Spurs managed to claw one back in the 81st minute when Jenas' cross was passed on by David Bentley straight to Campbell who made no mistake from close range. The visitors tried to stage a late come back but Fulham managed to hold on to their slender lead to claim all three points from the clash.
