Fulham 2-1 Bolton WanderersFulham secured three vital points against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday and move into the top six of the league table as they continue their quest to assure their safety in the league before the final third of the season.
It was a satisfying performance for Roy Hodgson who saw his side dominate their proceedings against Bolton at Craven Cottage. Fulham took an early lead through Zoltan Gera in the 15th minute before Bobby Zamora doubled the lead five minutes from half time. The Cottagers looked on course for a comfortable victory but had to endure final few minutes of anxiety after Kevin Davies got one back for Bolton in the 82nd minute.
Andy Johnson was handed his debut for Fulham after completing his move from Everton early last month as Fulham was on the attack right from the kick off. Gera had a great chance to put Fulham ahead as early as in the second minute but scooped his shot high over the cross bar.
However the Hungarian midfielder was on target 13 minutes later as he latched on to a poor clearance by the Bolton defense to slot home from close range. It was all Fulham in the first half as Bolton struggled to create any real chances.
Fulham doubled the lead in the 41st minute when Zamora latched on to a pass from Paul Konchesky, beat Danny Shittu and Gavin McCann before smashing the ball past Jussi Jaaskelainen. Gera almost scored the third for Fulham in the second half but saw his header smash against the cross bar.
Davis pulled one back for Bolton with a header in the 82nd minute but Fulham hung on to claim all three points from the match.
