Liverpool maintained their challenge for the Premier League title with a late goal in their narrow victory over Fulham on Saturday.

Liverpool were frustrated time and again by Fulham who looked to be on course of collecting yet another excellent point against a top four team after beating Manchester United last weekend. The Reds dominated the game right from the start and should have had won the game by a comfortable margin had they managed to convert their chances early in the game.

Fernando Torres combined well with Andrea Dossena to create the first real chance of the game in the 10th minute but the Italian defender saw his shot saved brilliantly by Mark Schwarzer while his header from the resultant corner smashed against the crossbar before rolling out to safety.

Schwarzer then pulled of an excellent save to deny Torres and while Xabi Alonso managed to beat the Fulham keeper, the post once again came to Fulham's rescue. Liverpool were once again denied by the woodwork, this time Torres finding the post while Dossena once again headed on to the crossbar.

With just seconds remaining on the clock, it looked as if Fulham had done enough to collect a point only for Yossi Benayoun to slam home an excellent shot from 12 yards out to help his side collect all three points in the end.
