Everton 2-0 Hull CityHull City slumped to a fourth straight league defeat as they were comfortably beaten 2-0 by Everton in their Premier League clash on Saturday. Everton dominated the chances throughout the game though they had a stroke of luck in the first goal. Hull manager Phil Brown would have been very worried over the lack of fight shown by his team as they continued their freefall down the league table. After a quiet start to the match Everton finally broke through the Hull defense in the 19th minute when Leighton Baines and Steven Pienaar linked up well to cross the ball for Marouane Fellaini who headed home from close range though the midfielder was clearly in an offside position. Fellaini had a chance to double the lead midway through the half but saw his header fly inches wide of the target. Everton finally managed to double the lead on the stroke of half time when Tim Cahill was fouled near the edge of the area and Mikel Arteta curled in a brilliant free kick past Boaz Myhill to score his second goal in three matches. Phil Brown made three changes in the second half, brining on Peter Halmosi, Craig Fagan and Daniel Cousin but it was Everton who went closest to scoring a third on a counter when Ian Ashbee put in a superb tackle to deny Leon Osman.
