Everton 1-1 Manchester United

Everton staged a superb come back in the second half to collect a vital point against Manchester United in their Premier League clash on Saturday.

United looked on course for a comfortable victory after dominating the possession in the first half with Darren Fletcher giving the visitors a deserved lead in the 22nd minute. However the hosts fought back in the second half as United struggled to replicate their early dominance, allowing Everton to equalize through Marouane Fellaini three minutes past the hour mark.

United went into the match on the back of a three match winning streak and were confident of adding a fourth with Everton struggling in the league. The match got of to an expected start with United dominating the possession as Everton sat back in their own half keen to soak up the pressure and press forward on the counter.

After an early scare from Louis Saha, United took a deserved lead in the 22nd minute when Ryan Giggs and Fletcher played a delightful one two that saw the Scottish midfielder go behind the Everton defense before slotting the ball past Tim Howard.

United should have had doubled the lead minutes later but Tim Howard pulled off excellent saves to first deny Cristiano Ronaldo and then dived low to block Nemanja Vidic's header from the corner before producing a brilliant save to deny a long range effort from Giggs.

Everton made United pay for the missed chances with a brilliant come back in the second half that saw them equalize in the 63rd minute when Phil Neville found Fellaini with a great cross and the Belgian midfielder rose high to head the ball past Edwin Van der Sar. The Toffees could have wrapped up all three points late in the game but Van der Sar pulled off a great save to deny Yakubu.
