Denmark 4-0 Liechtenstein

Morten Nordstrand scored two goals in the first half for Denmark as they completed a 4-0 rout of Liechtenstein in their Euro 2008 qualifier game on Wednesday.

Martin Laursen and Jon Dahl Tomasson also scored for Denmark as they completely overwhelmed Liechtenstein to bring back their qualifying campaign on track after a 0-0 draw over the weekend against Sweden.

Denmark took an early lead in the 3rd minute when Nordstrand he latched on to Dennis Rommedahl's cross before smashing a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner of the net. Laursen added the second nine minutes later when he was the first to reach Niclas Jensen's inswinging corner and was left with a simple tap in to double the lead.

There was no respite for Liechtenstein as Tomasson added the third six minutes later as he scored from six yards out after he was played in by a superb cross by Rommedahl. Denmark continued to attack and came close to getting the fourth goal as Leon Andreasen hit the bar while Jesper Gronkjaer's shot was saved brilliantly by keeper Peter Jehle.

However Morten Olsen's side finally got the fourth goal in the 36th minute when Nordstrand was fed by Tomasson and the FC Copenhagen fired home a left-footed strike past a helpless Jehle. The best chance of the match for Liechtenstein fell to Mario Frick but his shot was saved easily by Thomas Sorensen.

Rommedahl had two great chances to further humiliate Liechtenstein, but shot just over the bar with his first chance and then struck the post from his second. Nordstrand could have completed his hat trick 10 minutes from full time, but his effort flashed harmlessly across the post from 12 yards out.

Denmark next play Spain on October 13 while Liechtenstein will look to lift themselves away from the foot of the table when the face Sweden.
