Cote D’Ivoire 0-0 Burkina Faso

A sturdy Burkina Faso defensive performance against a lethargic Cote D’Ivoire continued the tournament’s run of surprises.

The match was largely attack against defence in the African Nations Cup. But most of the Elephants’ best chances fell to Bakari Kone, the best on 71 minutes when good work by Gervinho gave him a near open goal from six yards. Unfortunately he scuffed his right-foot shot well wide.

Ivory Coast should have had two first-half penalties, for fouls on Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Eboue. But the Stallions deserved a point for their efforts
