Chelsea had looked set for a fifth league win in a row when Didier Drogba put the hosts ahead in the 70th minute. However Everton fought back strongly an equalized right at the death through Tim Cahill to grab a deserved point from the game.
Everton matched against their match superior opponents in all parts of the field, breaking up a number of moves are creating some of their own. The visitors should have had taken the lead in the 15th minute when Leon Osman flicked the ball on for Steven Pienaar inside the six yard box but the striker was unable to make any contact on the ball.
Both Juliano Belletti and Wayne Bridge had a lot of space on the wings and the Chelsea full backs made full use of their chances, bombing down the field to create opportunities for their team. Lampard saw his shot saved brilliantly by Tim Howard while Drogba missed a sitter with just the keeper to beat.
Both the teams had a subdued opening to the second half with Everton managing to keep the Chelsea attackers quiet. Lampard had a long range shot tipped over by Howard and from the resultant corner, Alex saw his shot cleared off the line by Tony Hibbert.
Chelsea finally took the lead with 20 minutes remaining when Drogba headed home Salomon Kalou's header. With time running out, Everton equalized in the injury time with an acrobatic effort from Cahill that went past Cudicini and into the net. Tags: Everton, Premiership, Chelsea Posted: |
