Chelsea 4 - 3 Bolton WanderersChelsea survived a major scare over the weekend and held their nerves to emerge 4-3 winners over Bolton and keep within touching distance of the top two clubs on the Premiership table. Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech had an uncharacteristic off-day between the poles as he fumbled most shots. Bolton almost took an early lead when a free-kick from Matt Taylor looked destined goal wards. However Cech palmed away to maintain parity. Bolton goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen was then tested by a 20-yard shot from Didier Drogba. However the break came on 40 minutes when Michael Ballack latched onto Salomon Kalou's cross and fired it home. Just after the break some poor defending cost Bolton dear as Drogba's free-kick just on the edge of the penalty area beat Jaaskelainen all ends up. Gretar Steinsson handled Frank Lampard's pass on 59 minutes and the England ace fired home from the resulting penalty. Drogba put Chelsea 4-0 up on the 63rd minute when he headed in a corner. Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink withdrew Drogba and Lampard on 65 minutes, but his side were in trouble immediately after as O'Brien scored for Bolton on 69 minutes after Cech fumbled a shot. Chris Basham made it 4-2 on 74 minutes with a header and when Matt Taylor scored in the 78th minutes, fans at the Bridge were left shell shocked. However Chelsea held their nerve to collect all three points and move to 67 from 32 games. The Blues need to win all the remaining games and hope the top two fumble if they are to challenge for the title at the end of the season.
