Chelsea 2-1 HullChelsea gave new manager Carlo Ancelotti some anxious moments before registering a narrow 2-1 win over Hull City in their opening encounter of this season's premiership matches. The Blues fell behind to a goal from Stephen Hunt in the 28th minute after controlling much of the possession in the first half. Hunt was booed by the Chelsea faithful throughout the game, but responded in the most fitting manner to put his side ahead and score the first goal of the Premier League this season. However Chelsea could not be kept out of the game and responded superbly in the 37th minute when star striker Didier Drogba scored from 25 yards out with a fine dipping free kick. In the 40th minute, Michael Essien had a fine chance to put the home side ahead, but was foiled by Hull goalkeeper Boaz Myhill. Just seconds after the break Nicolas Anelka had a great chance when Drogba put him through, but the Frenchman fired wide. Myhill was in action again in the 63rd minute, affecting a couple of stunning saves from Didier Drogba to keep Hull in the game. In the 74th minute, Essien had another chance, but his shot from 20 yards out narrowly missed. Just when it appeared that the match would be a draw, Drogba scooped a shot over from the left side in what was intended to be a cross, but actually ended up in the net much to the relief of fans and manager alike.
