Chelsea 0-3 SunderlandOnuoha 45 Gyan 52 Wellbeck 87 Chelsea’s unbeaten EPL record, and 100% home record, was consigned to the history books by a rampant Sunderland side who were fully worth their margin of victory. The Blues were short of centre-back pairing Alex and John Terry, as well as long-term injury worry Frank Lampard. But it was still a remarkable display from Sunderland who, two weeks ago, were humiliated by north-east neighbours Newcastle and conceded seven goals in the corresponding EPL fixture last season. Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech made two fine saves from Danny Wellbeck’s and pulling off a double save from Asamoah Gyan and Kieron Richardson in the 45th minute. However, immediately afterwards, full-back Nedun Onuoha produced a wonder goal, beating three defenders and rolling a left-foot shot into the corner of the net. Chelsea should by then have been down to ten men after Branislav Ivanovic tripped a goalbound Wellbeck. But the Serb defender was only cautioned. Seven minutes after half-time Sunderland were two-up, Gyan applying a confident right-foot finish to a slick passing move involving Danny Wellbeck and Jordan Henderson. And Wellbeck was gifted the goal his display merited when Ashley Cole’s horribly misplaced backpass left him the simplest of opportunities to beat an exposed Cech.
