Bolton Wanderers 1-0 West Ham

Bolton Wanderers claimed vital three points as they emerged 1-0 winners over West Ham in their live Premiership clash on Saturday to move within two points of safety with four matches to go.

Kevin Davies scored the only goal of the match early in the second half as Bolton registered a deserved victory over a depleted West Ham side at the Reebok Stadium. This was Bolton's first win in nine league games and with Birmingham failing to collect all three points against Everton, gives Gary Megson's side a ray of hope of avoiding relegation.

West Ham received a set back as early as in the first minute of the match when defender Anton Ferdinand limped off the field with an injury. The makeshift defense struggled to settled down as Bolton dominated the possession in the first half but were unable to put away the chances that came their way.

Davis had two of his goal bound efforts cleared off the line, first by Jonathan Spector and then by Scott Parker. West Ham were struggling to go forward as Bolton almost took the lead when Diouf prodded home Gavin McCann's flick on but his effort was ruled out for off side.

Davis finally scored his 100th career goal in the 47th minute when he latched on to Taylor's in swinging cross to slot home from close range with Green obstructed by Spector. West Ham's best chance of the match fell to Luis Boa Morte but the midfielder saw his shot cleared off the line by Gary Cahill as Bolton recorded a vital victory in their quest to avoid relegation.
