Bolton Wanderers 0-0 Manchester CityManchester City's indifferent form in the league continued as they were held to a 0-0 draw by relegation battlers Bolton Wanderers in their Premiership clash on Saturday.
With Bolton embroiled in a relegation battle, the hosts came out in an aggressive fashion, intent on collecting all three points from the match. Though both the teams had good chances to get the victory, they were unable to convert the chances thanks to some good defending and poor finishing.
Bolton made their intentions clear early in the game as Joe Hart pulled off a good save to deny El Hadji Diouf. The Senegalese midfielder created the next best chance for Bolton as his curling cross flummoxed the Manchester City defense though Matthew Taylor and Danny Guthrie were unable to reach the ball which was cleared by Vedran Corluka.
The hosts almost took the lead from the resultant corner taken by Diouf as Gretar Steinsson rose high to head it towards the target only to see it crash against the cross bar. City's first chance of the match fell to Stephen Ireland but his drive from outside the area was cleared off the line by Gardner.
Bolton upped the tempo in the final third of the game as Steinsson had two good attempts on the target while Hart once again denied a great shot by Diouf. With time running out, Bolton almost secured all three points late in the game when Davies headed the ball towards the target but Petrov was in a great position to clear the ball off the line as both the teams were forced to share the points.
